Bangkok (9 June 2026), The declaration of Solidarity for Peace in Patani was initiated by 15 CSOs in Asia Pacific region, it consists of Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand, Philippines, Timor Leste, Sri Langka and Nepal. Actually, the consolidation meeting was held in August 2025, coinciding with 20th anniversary of Aceh peace, in Aceh.
It explained by Juanda, he is coordinator for Support Committee of Human Right and Peace in Patani (SCHRP) as a committee of solidarity network for Patani.
The secretariat of SCHRP will be in Aceh, as one of armed conflict area in Asia Pacific was signed the peace agreement on August 15th, 2005.
According to Juanda, “Aceh had experiences on peace dialogue, that’s why, we have responsible to support the peace in other conflict areas”
Further, Juanda describes that the experiences of the Peace process in Ache and Mindanao in this region bring us together to solidarity for Peace in Patani which need a lot of support to stop the violence and return common lives back to the Patani people.
The SCHRP would like to recommend that Barisan Revolusi Nasional Melayu Patani (BRN) and Royal Thai Government (RTG) using dialogue as the best solution on solving the armed conflict in Patani-Southern of Thailand. The Peace talk must continue by international observers and monitoring Peace makers.
Then, to support the consolidation the civil society organization as solidarity network on promoting peace building in Patani at the regional and international level in supporting the successful Patani Peace process.
Finally, SCHRP expect that the next round of peace talks between BRN and RTG can strengthen mutual trust and the greater interests of the future of the Patani peoples”
“the military approach has many disadvantages and uses up a lot of budget compared to developing Patani with a peaceful approach and political diplomacy,”Juanda concluded.
