Pamorte.Com – The Peace Negotiation Secretariat of the Patani Malay National Revolutionary Front (BRN) has revealed the latest developments regarding the escalation of military actions in the Patani conflict zone. In a press release issued on Monday (July 5, 2027), the BRN stated that these conditions indicate the conflict is still ongoing and has yet to show signs of a sustainable resolution.
The BRN noted that the conflict has been ongoing since 2004 and is now entering its 23rd year. In its statement, the BRN said that its armed operations target what it refers to as Thai armed forces, groups armed by the Thai government, and projects that, according to the BRN, negatively impact the lives, environment, and identity of the Malay Muslim community in Patani.
The BRN also stated that it deeply respects and adheres to International Humanitarian Law (IHL).
Furthermore, the BRN urged the public to prioritize safety by avoiding locations that could potentially become areas of armed operations. They also asked residents not to join the Thai government’s security forces or take on roles that could be interpreted as support for government security operations, in order to reduce risks to personal safety.
In the same statement, the BRN attributed the escalating tensions and acts of violence in the Patani conflict zone to the lack of progress in the peace negotiation process.
The view conflict resolution through political means as the approach that can end the conflict between the Patani people and the Kingdom of Thailand, and bring about lasting peace and security.
At the end of its statement, the BRN expressed appreciation to the Malaysian government for its role as a facilitator in the peace negotiation process. They also appreciated the involvement of the international community, which they viewed as actively promoting conflict resolution, and hoped that the peace dialogue process would receive broader support from the people of Patani.
